Designed to be used in conjunction with the DoodlePaint software, the Instructional Manual contains

over 150 lesson plans for ages 5 to 10 (B.C grades K to 5). The lessons are based on inspiration from quality Children's Literature, seasonal themes and classroom curriculum studies. The organization of the lessons is based on developing computer use skills.

There are approximately 10 lessons for each of three terms over the school year. At the beginning of each term there is a grid containing Software skills, Art and Design skills and Technical skills for each lesson and a list of Software and Technical Skills to be introduced and reviewed, as well as teaching notes.

At the beginning of the first term there is a list of previously acquired Software and Technical skills at Independent, Beginning and Introductory Levels. At the beginning of the third term there is a list of expected Software and Technical skills at Independent, Beginning and Introductory Level.

The Instructional Manual also contains a Technical Skills Scope and Sequence grid for Age 5 to 10 years, a list of Recommended books and art works and reference to the Prescribed Learning Outcomes from the B.C. Ministry of Education Visual Arts K to 7 Curriculum.

Each lesson plan includes the following:

• Art and Design principles
• Computer use skills
• Suggested resources (curriculum study, art prints, charts and other materials)
• Recommended book or books
• A brief description of a related classroom art lesson
• A detailed lesson on using the software to create the project
• A goal describing the art or design work
• A list of the software tools
• Comments based on personal experience

 At the end of the section for Age 10 there are additional lesson ideas and notes on using desktop publishing software, as well as 12 lesson plans that integrate the use of DoodlePaint with desktop publishing software.
